Symfony 7.2 is the current stable release (as of early 2025). Symfony 6.4 is the active LTS version, supported until November 2027. New projects should use 7.2 unless they specifically need LTS guarantees, in which case 6.4 is the right choice.
Symfony 6.4 and 7.x require PHP 8.1 or higher. Symfony 7.1+ requires PHP 8.2+. We always recommend running the latest stable PHP version both for performance (PHP 8.3 is significantly faster than 7.x) and security support.
